Elia

The responsible for the transmission of electricity in Belgium.

Electricity is transmitted over the high-voltage grid from electricity generators to the distribution system operators and large industrial consumers. As system operator, Elia organises transparent, objective and non-discriminatory access to the grid.

After a two-month study of the different data sources available at Elia, Cockpit Group provided a detailed technical description of all the KPI’s of Elia’s scorecard.

Before the study, the existing scorecard of Elia was manually filled in, only with global figures.

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to enable the automation of the scorecard and the implementation of new ergonomic charts for each KPI, with drill down analysis capabilities.

Through interviews of the data source owners and through analysis of the existing systems and reports, Cockpit Group provided one technical specification for each KPI, including what sources and/or reports need to be used, what fields and elements in the sources are necessary, how they should be collected, what dimensions should be available for analysis, and what calculations need to be performed to obtain the final result.

A prototype was also provided to show how the KPI’s could be visually implemented in ergonomic charts with detailed analysis capabilities.
Based on this study, Elia was then able to move to the effective implementation.
